National Suicide Prevention Lifeline >>
Each month, the Lifeline Network serves over 45,000 callers who are in emotional distress. You can reach the Lifeline by dialing 1-800-273-TALK (8255). Although suicide prevention is their primary mission, people call the Lifeline for many reasons including information on mental health, post-disaster needs, substance abuse prevention, relationship problems, family problems, etc. The service is free and confidential, staffed 24/7 with trained counselors. Anyone may call, including family and friends who may be concerned about a loved one who is feeling sad, hopeless or suicidal or anyone interested in suicide prevention, treatment, and service referrals.
The Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) has founded a national suicide prevention hotline to ensure veterans in emotional crisis have free, 24/7 access to trained counselors. To operate the Veterans Hotline, the VA partnered with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Veterans can call the Lifeline number, 1-800-273-TALK (8255), and press "1" to be routed to the Veterans Hotline.

The purpose of this website is to provide information about effective treatments for psychological disorders. The website is meant for a wide audience, including the general public, practitioners, researchers, and students. Basic descriptions are provided for each psychological disorder and treatment. Treatment evidence is shown for each diagnosis; you may search which type of treatment has been shown most effective with a particular diagnosis. In addition, for each treatment, the website lists key references, clinical resources, and training opportunities. An important fact to remember is that research indicates that the best predictor of any treatment's success is client-therapist rapport, i.e., the ability of the client and psychologist to form a positive working relationship.
Did you know that New Jersey’s largest health insurance plan routinely delays or denies access to outpatient mental health services? Asks therapists to disclose confidential patient information? Spends up to half of every dollar on administration and profits – instead of patient care? We know. Every day we see how this mismanagement of care harms patients, threatens their privacy, and wastes taxpayer money. That’s why we launched Speak Your Mind NJ to Improve Access to Mental Health Services. It’s also why we filed a lawsuit against state officials and insurance companies. Please join our campaign to protect patient rights and demand easier access to mental health services. We urge you to learn more and Speak Your Mind.
