Chronic and Acute Medical Conditions:
Being diagnosed with a disease or syndrome can be a life changing event. Managing a disease can be even more distressing; from coordinating care among many providers to enlisting the support of key family members, there are numerous challenges. Dr. Budesa has worked successfully with persons diagnosed with ALS, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, various cardiac conditions, and others in order to find life beyond diagnosis and helped them discover vital, rewarding lives.
Weight Loss and Management:
We all know the formula for weight loss: eat less, exercise more. Somehow, though, we often find ourselves eating unhealthfully and adding pounds throughout the years. Dr. Budesa has helped her clients find their own paths to a more healthy weight by examining each person individually and formulating a specific treatment plan. From pre-surgical evaluations to behavioral interventions for weight loss and management, Dr. Budesa will provide a comprehensive plan to help achieve a stable, healthy weight.
Military Community:
As a Navy psychologist, Dr. Budesa worked with both active duty and retired military members and their families to manage the difficulties of deployment, reunification, retirement, and other issues. Subsequently, she has worked with retirees in managing the bureaucracy of the Veteran’s Administration in order to help service members and their families receive the benefits to which they are entitled. Dr. Budesa is also a volunteer with Give an Hour, an organization that devotes free psychological services to military members and their families.
Depression:
Depression is a medical illness that involves both the mind and body, affecting how you feel, think, and behave. It is a chronic illness, like diabetes or high blood pressure, and it can respond very positively to treatment. Dr. Budesa has helped people with depression live better lives through individualized therapy and she routinely consults with physicians in the event that medication is used.
Anxiety:
Anxiety is a normal part of life; it can even be useful when it alerts us to danger. But for some people, anxiety is a persistent problem that interferes with daily activities such as work, school, or sleep. This type of anxiety can disrupt relationships and enjoyment of life, and over time it can lead to health concerns and other problems. Generalized anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder are examples of anxiety conditions that Dr. Budesa has worked with.
